Lynn Stringer Botanical Artist
  Curriculum Vitae

I am a botanical artist living and working in Co. Wicklow, Ireland. All the works featured are in watercolour and pencil. A selection of paintings are available as greetings cards and as limited edition giclee prints. Commissions are welcome if you have a favourite plant or flower that you would like painted.    Prices for original work ranges from €250 to €850.

The framed size of the Fuchsia painting above is  approximately 25 x 20 cm.    It is available for sale at €95

Other more recent work is shown under the 'New Work' heading in the menu bar. Original work, prints and cards are available for sale at the North Wicklow Country Market, Newcastle, Co. Wicklow most Saturday mornings.

I will be running  five week botanical art classes through the year on Monday mornings in the Booterstown Parish Centre, South County Dublin.

The classes will be from 11am to 1pm.  The cost for the five weeks will be €100.  Beginners welcome. Please contact me at lynnstringer@eircom.net for further information and upcoming starting dates.

I will be teaching a three day course at An Grianan, Termonfeckin, County Louth from the 8th to the 11th of August.  See www.an-grianan.ie for details.

I am finally finishing paintings and dissection drawings of two Myrtle plants from Kilmacurragh Botanic Gardens.   All going well they will be published in Curtis Botanical Magazine this year.  I am also working on a lovely old climbing rose 'Mermaid'.   This was one of Monet's favourites and still grows on the front of his house in Giverney.

I have also attempted painting some lichen from an old Sycamore tree that came down in one of the earlier storms this year.  I wasn't altogether happy with the result so have put the painting away for a few weeks and hopefully it will have improved hugely when I look at it again!

The Irish Society of Botanical Artists have launched their new project which will culminate in a book and exhibition in late 2016.   We will be painting new Irish introductions (such as Cornus capitata 'Kilmacurragh Rose') in association with the Irish Garden Plant Society. This promises to be a great project.  I am enjoying  working on Agapanthus 'Kilmurry white' which was bred by Paul Woods from Kilmurry Nursery.

Following the success of the exhibition  'Kilmacurragh through the Artist's Eye' held in the Botanic Gardens last year, The Jameson family of Tourin House in Co. Waterford have invited various artists to visit their garden to draw and paint the plants, views and vistas of the garden.     A group exhibition of this work will be held in late 2016.   I am very pleased to be part of this project and have already begun two paintings, one of a Rhododendron and another of an Iris.
